What is a Problem?

My departure from my problem-solver identity

As a designer, I’ve always been inclined to claim to be a problem-solver. I was very good at Math when I was younger and I adhered to problem-solving as the tie that binds my love for Math and for creative thinking. I was always keen to solve something, to find a solution.

Solving a problem is so ingrained in the design process. Admittedly, I never even questioned why that is and I’m not sure if many other designers have. The more I think about it, asking what the problem is, is actually ubiquitous…
